I am writing on behalf of the Usher Peer Support Group. We would like to lend our support to the human rights action being brought forward by Nancy Barker, Scott Simser and Gary Malkowski to make captioning in movie theatres universally available.

Currently, any person with a hearing loss is given limited availability to theatres that provide captioned movies. This discriminates not only for the deaf, hard of hearing and those with any hearing loss, but also their families. Movie theatres without captioned movies do not allow equal access and therefore families and friends are not able to enjoy movie going as a means of family entertainment.

The Ushers Peer Support Group supports all legal efforts to make captioning in movie theatres universal.

Sincerely,

Elio Riggillo
UPSG President
