The Canadian National Society of the Deaf-Blind (CNSDB) is a consumer advocacy organization representing Canadians who are Deaf-Blind.

We are writing in support of the human rights action being brought forward by Gary Malkowski, Nancy Barker and Scott Simser to make captioning in movie theatres universally available.

High quality captioning of all movies, and display of all movies in captioned form would not only make movies accessible to Deaf, deafened and hard of hearing but also to those who are Deaf-Blind with useable vision. All Individual members of CNSDB are legally blind but certainly the majority are not totally blind. High quality captions would make first run movies accessible to the people who have the dual impairment of both visually impairment and Deaf, deafened and hard of hearing.

CNSDB believes in equal access for all. We are very much in support of the action taken by Gary Malkowski, Nancy Barker and Scott Simser.

Sincerely,

Jane Sayer
CNSDB President
