To Whom it May Concern;
Deaf and Hard of Hearing people everywhere in the World are part of the overall society, yet...we face barriers everyday in our lives. We pay taxes and we pay the same cost to watch a movie as our friends and relatives who are hearing. We miss much of what is going on in the movie. We enjoy movies that have actions but no sound...but is that fair??
We support the movement to include 100 percent captioning for movies that many people take for granted. Hey...try showing the movie without sound...there would be a roar of complaints from the hearing audience members. Yet, for years, we have asked, we have educated and we have tried nicely...but there is always some political reason as to...why.. the cost...the time, etc. Yet the sound portion also takes time to develop and include with the movies. Please...we did not choose to be deaf or hard of hearing.. we want to enjoy the movies that are widely available all across Canada.
We support Caption Movies NOW Coalition and wish the best of luck for a successful mission. We would be happy to support your group any way we can.
